Abstract: The numerical simulation of the processes determined by the shock waves effect, is extremely important for the preliminary phases of prototyping, with low costs and a relatively short time, compared to classical methods. In the example below, we will analyze the explosive forming of metallic sheet processes. The experiment was made on axisymmetrical part, having the shape of sphere calotte, connected with a torus segment, obtained by forming a plate, 3 mm thick, made of aluminum alloy, using the energy punch from the explosion of an charge of HMX, located in water, at a certain distance from the metal plate surface.

Key words: numerical simulation, explosive forming, underwater explosion, finite element method.
